Louise Cushen Counselling

🌿 About Me

I’m Louise, a person‑centred counsellor offering a calm, grounded space for anyone navigating the complexities of being human. My work is rooted in empathy, honesty, and genuine presence — an approach that trusts your capacity for growth and honours the pace that feels right for you.

I believe that therapy is not about fixing you. It’s about meeting you, exactly where you are.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, angry, or simply unsure of your next step, I offer a space where you can breathe, explore, and be heard without judgement or expectation.

🌿 My Approach

I work relationally and at your pace. There is no pressure to perform, no need to have the “right” words, and no expectation to be anything other than yourself.

In our sessions, you can:

  • explore your thoughts and emotions freely

  • make sense of what feels heavy or confusing

  • reconnect with your own voice and inner wisdom

  • build self‑trust, clarity, and confidence

  • I don’t offer quick fixes or strategies that don’t land. Instead, I offer deep listening, gentle curiosity, and a steady presence as you find your own way forward.

🌿 Experience and Background

My background includes several years supporting young people in pastoral and safeguarding roles, alongside my therapeutic work with adults of all ages. I have experience with a wide range of emotional and relational challenges, including:

  • anxiety and overwhelm

  • identity and self‑esteem

  • anger and emotional regulation

  • trauma and attachment

  • life transitions and uncertainty

  • relationship difficulties

  • neurodiversity

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB) and work in alignment with UK ethical standards.

Alongside this, I have four years’ experience working in schools within student wellbeing and safeguarding roles. I hold an enhanced DBS and have supported young people through short‑ and long‑term interventions, working with anxiety, self‑confidence, identity, and the challenges that come with growing into yourself.

Before my counselling career, I spent ten years in the construction industry — a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment that taught me how to stay present, adapt quickly, and connect with people from all walks of life. That experience continues to shape the way I work: grounded, steady, and able to hold complexity with calmness. All of this has deepened my curiosity about people — how we work, what we carry, and what it means to be truly seen.
